Drugstore Makeup Dupes

As seen on Canada AM: If the high-cost of high-end makeup is getting you down, don’t worry—drugstore dupes are here to save the day. It is possible to build an amazing makeup kit with dupes that come close to cult-classics. In many cases, high-end brands and drugstore brands are run by the same umbrella company. This could be why the formulations of cheaper products are winning over beauty enthusiasts everywhere.

All dupes are available at Rexall!

CONCEALER

High-end: Touche Eclat by Yves Saint Lauren $50
Drugstore dupe: L’Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Lumi Highlighter OR Physicians Formula Nude Wear Touch of Glow (under $10)

FOUNDATION

High-end: Giorgio Armani Luminous Foundation $65
Drugstore dupe: L’Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation (under $15)

FRUGAL TIP
If your foundation rubs off on the collar of your shirt or blouse, put a touch of dish soap on the stain and gently rub it in with a toothbrush. The combination of the dish soap (grease-cutting) and the bristles will lift the stain away. Then launder as usual.

BLUSH

High-end: Nars Orgasm Blush $35
Drugstore dupe: NYX Powder Blush in Pinched or Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink (under $10)

MASCARA

High-end: Dior Diorshow Mascara $35
Drugstore dupe: L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara OR Maybelline Great Lash Mascara (under $5)

FRUGAL TIP
Tester mascara wands are great to keep on hand. Spray a little bit of hairspray in your palm, swirl the bristles in the spray, and then use the wand to “set” your eyebrows. This tip works great and saves you buying an extra eyebrow setting product.

LIPS

High-end: Kylie Jenner’s Lips…from MAC to her own Lip Kits (prices start at $25 and up)
Drugstore dupe: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Warm Me Up and Rimmel 1000 Kisses Pencil in Mauve Shimmer (under $10)

FRUGAL TIP
To soothe dry and chapped lips, make an easy and cheap lip scrub at home. In your palm, combine a little bit of Vaseline with a little bit of white sugar. Apply the scrub to your lips and gently exfoliate further by rubbing a dry toothbrush (gently) over your lips in a circular motion. Wipe away (or rinse off) scrub to reveal soft and hydrated lips.

Love the makeup dupes! Good for you. Please also mention ones that either use less packaging or have refills…which would be my dream.v
